Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler was happy to see that Cristiano Ronaldo knows how to use his finishing move on the football pitch.
In Al-Nassr’s 2-0 loss to Al-Hilal on Tuesday at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo was shown a yellow card after an unorthodox tackle. The Portuguese international grabbed Gustavo Cuellar’s head and neck before putting him down with a ZigZag-like maneuver.
The move caught the attention of Ziggler, who shared a gif of himself hitting the move on Alberto Del Rio from the top of a ladder. The 42-year-old WWE Superstar introduced the move in his re-debut against Batista back in 2008.
Dolph Ziggler has used the finishing move to win a lot of matches. He’s won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship twice, the United States Championship twice and the Intercontinental Championship six times.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr had a chance to catch Al Ittihad atop the table, but instead they dropped points for the second consecutive match. They are now three points back with just six games remaining, and leaders Al Ittihad also have a game in hand and could further extend their advantage.
Two penalty goals by Saudi Pro League top scorer Odion Ighalo (18 goals) decided the Riyadh derby. Both were decisions by English Premier League referee Michael Oliver, who was the latest brought from overseas to officiate a match in the Saudi league.
Ronaldo was left to wear a wry smile after both instances and as he trudged off the field at the end of the match, jeered by the Al Hilal supporters, it seemed as if it was with a sense of resignation that the title was now lost.
It was a frustrating night overall for Ronaldo, one which will be most remembered for this MMA takedown of an opponent which earned him a yellow card.
