Jennifer Lopez and her Netflix documentary Halftime have gone viral. The film production that looks at the singer’s life has been such a hit, in part, because of the Puerto Rican-American’s explosive statements about her mother Guadalupe Rodriguez.
The musical caused a big stir on the show talking about her complicated relationship with her mother, Guadeloupe Rodriguez. As a child, this would sometimes involve physical violence.
“She did what she had to do to survive, and it made her strong, but it also made her tough,” said J Lo on the show.
“She beat the s**t out of us.
“I was surrounded by a lot of strong women. My mom is a super complicated woman and she carries a lot of baggage, she wanted us to be independent and never have to rely on a man.”
However, the actress confessed in the same documentary that she has a great relationship with her mother. A fact that was reflected in a previous interview with J Lo on a TV show.
Jennifer Lopez told Univision’s Despierta America what it was like to be a mother and also praised Lupe Rodriguez.
“I remember when my babies (my children) were two years old and she sent me a letter. She said, ‘how you feel about being a mommy now is how I feel about you,” Lopez said emotionally.
Jennifer Lopez also told how her motherhood helped her understand many of the things her mother Lupe Rodriguez did at the time: “I never thought of it that way”.
She also made it clear that the relationship between mother and daughter was not always the best, although she made it clear that there was always love.
“You know that between mothers and daughters there is always conflict, but that love is unique in life,” said Lopez.
Jennifer Lopez recounts a number of issues in the autobiographical documentary, such as her performance with Colombian singer Shakira at the Super Bowl show in 2020.
Engaged to Ben Affleck after divorcing Marc Anthony
The singer, actress and businesswoman is now in a sweet moment with Ben Affleck, with whom she previously had a relationship in 2002. She is now engaged to the actor and film director.
Jennifer Lopez ended her third marriage, to music artist Marc Anthony, after a seven-year relationship when the couple divorced in 2011. J Lo added that after ending her marriage, she felt she had lost her courage.
