Taylor Swift‘s fans have speculated that her breakdown during a performance of Champagne Problems during one of her tour stops in Glendale, Arizona was related to her now-revealed split with Joe Alwyn.
Several of the 33-year-old singer’s listeners have taken to the comments section of a video that was previously shared to TikTok user averysel’s account last month, in which she was seen tearing up as she played her emotionally-charged track.
It was revealed that the Grammy-winning singer, who recently made it onto the Billboard 200 chart for the 189th time, and her longtime boyfriend had called it quits on their romance last week.
One of Swift’s fans commented that the song ‘hits different now’ after the news about the singer’s breakup was revealed to the public.
Another took the performer’s split to heart and wrote: ‘I DON’T BELIEVE IN LOVE ANYMORE.’
One individual in particular expressed that the performance made her ‘so sad’ after the breakup was made known to the public.
Lyrically, Champagne Problems deals with a turned-down proposal and features lines such as: ‘One for the money, two for the show/I never was ready so I watch you go.’
Swift was also seen tearing up over the course of a tribute to her recently deceased grandmother that took place during one of her Arizona stops.
A source spoke to Entertainment Tonight and revealed that the singer and Alwyn, 32, had ended their six-year relationship on Saturday.
The insider told the media outlet that the pair’s breakup ‘was not dramatic’ and that it also was amicable in nature.
They added: ‘The relationship had just run its course. It’s why [Alwyn] hasn’t been spotted at any shows.’
The former couple was initially reported to have started a relationship in May of 2017.
Swift was previously linked to numerous other figures in the entertainment industry, including Calvin Harris, John Mayer and Jake Gyllenhaal.
The singer eventually moved on with the Harriet actor, and he made a rare public appearance during her performance at iHeartRadio’s Jingle Ball in 2017.
The former couple went Instagram official with their relationship the following May.
Swift and Alwyn made numerous public appearances in each other’s company over the course of their relationship, which they famously kept private from the public.
The singer appeared to reject any rumors about a potential engagement in her track Lavender Haze, which was released on her newest album, Midnights.
