Two-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes is going through a tough family moment following the death of his grandmother, who had been struggling with several health issues for the past few weeks.
After the news broke a few days ago that Debbie Bates, Randi Mahomes’ mother, was in delicate health, the news of her death was given by a close friend of Randi, Teresa Jane, from Tyler, TX.
Through her Facebook account, Teresa posted: “My best friend @randimahomes lost her best of best friends yesterday…. Her sweet mom. The one who showed up for everyone every time. The person more like her than anyone, the person who loved her no matter what… please keep her in your prayers and know her messages and phone has literally blown up with love but she just can’t reply yet.”
Another family friend, who is known on Twitter by the name The Real Neon, posted: “I hadn’t gotten the chance to see Debbie Martin in many many years but she was always such a sweet and kind person. My condolences go out to @tootgail (Randi Mahomes) and the entire Martin/Mahomes family. Fly high and rest easy Debbie.”
The memorial service for Debbie Bates Martin will be held on Monday, in Henderson, Texas. Mahomes’ grandma, his number one fan ever since his Whitehouse High School football days, will be remembered and embraced by those closest to her.
Debbie’s death adds to the Mahomes family’s problems
Just nine weeks ago, Randi posted a video on Instagram showing the Mahomes family, including Patrick, celebrating with his grandmother Debbie. Randi wrote: “I won the bet!! She drank it!! Winning!! Now I need help with this grandma she gets to hang with me in Arizona!!! Help!! Lol.”
In addition to the death of his grandmother, the Mahomes family has been going through other problems. Patrick’s younger brother, Jackson, has been accused of forcefully kissing a woman and assaulting a 19-year-old waitress.
