What does it take to look like blonde beauty Margot Robbie? According to a new spoof video, there’s placenta involved.
The 25-year-old appears on the cover of the latest issue of Vogue magazine, and took the time to detail her incredibly precise beauty routine for a new video on the magazine’s website.
In the American Psycho-inspired spoof clip, Margot’s body and skin regimen is so specific and elaborate that it’s practically psychotic — or, you know, right in line with what some real Hollywood actresses do to stay camera-ready at all times.

Creepy: Margot Robbie stars in a new video for Vogue.com which spoofs America Psycho
Movie star: This year, she is starring in Suicide Squad (script pictured) and The Legend of Tarzan
Spoof: In the video, she is very stoic and calm, bordering on psychotic
Behind-the-scenes: She starts off introducing herself in a voiceover while using the toilet
Directed by Paranormal Activity 3 and 4 directors Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost, the three-minute video opens with a view of Margot’s sparse and impeccably clean apartment.
The camera pans to a script on bed for a movie called Harley Quinn vs. Harley Davidson — which is now called Suicide Squad — before Margot’s voiceover begins.
‘I live in a charming little five-bedroom in Beachwood Canyon,’ the Australian actress says calmly in a slow, unemotional American accent, as she is seen walking around the apartment in a silk nightie and sheer robe. She seems to see no irony in the calling a five-bedroom ‘little’.
‘My name is Margot Robbie. I’m 25 years old,’ she continues, walking into the bathroom and watching her high-tech toilet automatically open before she sits down on it.
As she pees, she looks over at a signed Hamilton poster on her bathroom wall, which goes out of focus as she looks at her reflection in the framed glass.
Young, scrappy, and hungry: She notices her reflection in a signed Hamilton poster which reads, ‘Margot, don’t throw away your shot!’, referencing a line in one of the show’s songs
Routine: She goes through her morning routine, which includes placing cold tea-dipped spoons on her eyes
Look at that view: She keeps the spoons on her eyes and she does yoga on her balcony
Getting a little scared… The spoons blocking her eyes creates a creepy image
‘I believe in taking care of myself. In a balanced diet. In a rigorous exercise routine,’ she goes on, opening her fridge to reveal not much but a container of Vegemite, juice, an eye mask, and two metal spoons.
‘In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I’ll hold two cold spoons dipped in lapsang souchong [a black tea] over my eyes,’ she says, placing those spoons on her eyes.
She then walks outside to her terrace and begins to do yoga on a rug. As she bends and turns, she keeps the spoons steady on her eyes, looking quite comical as she serenely turns toward the camera.
‘I like to meditate while I work on my core, even though I was born with a six-pack,’ she says.
Scrubbing: She says she showers and uses specific washes but doesn’t clean her hair
So it’s not greasy? By now, she remarks, her hair just cleans itself
Skincare: She covers her face with a ‘proprietary glycolic and pearl mask’
Back to normal: After putting on a slew of other products, she peels it off, also letting her fake American accent slip away
Just a joke: She finishes the clip dancing in her messy living room
‘In the shower, I use a deep pore cleanser lotion, then a fossilized blue-green algae scrub. I can’t remember the last time I washed my hair. It basically cleans itself now,’ she goes on as she is seen bathing in a well-lit shower.
‘Then I apply a proprietary glycolic and pearl mask, which i leave on for ten minutes as I prepare the rest of my routine,’ she adds, standing with a towel wrapped around her and applying the mask to her face.’
She opens her medicine cabinet to reveal plenty of high-end products by SKI-II, Chanel, and La Mer, but explains: ‘I always use a small batch placenta-infused facial toner, for that third-trimester glow, without the cravings.’
Of course, none of those brands actually produces a ‘placenta-infused facial toner’ — however, Rodial, as well as several other brands, does make products with placenta.
Sleek and sexy: Margot sizzles on the cover of the latest issue of Vogue
The sun shines nicely on her: The 25-year-old actress’ shoot seemed inspired by her Tarzan movie
Woman of many talents! She is also set to star in and produce a Suicide Squad spin-off movie
She then uses moisturizer and an anti-aging eye balm, followed by a moisturizing protecting lotion. She’s seen pulling the face mask off as she readies for the rest of her routine, staring unmovingly at her reflection in the mirror.
‘There is an idea of Margot Robbie, some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me. Only an entity. Something illusory,’ she explains in the voiceover, the face mask suddenly seeming creepy, as if she is peeling off a second skin.
‘I know I can hide my cold gaze and you can shake my hand, and feel flesh gripping yours,’ she says, the American accent slowly slipping away as she reverts back to her real Australian accent. ‘And maybe you can sense our lifestyles are probably comparable. I simply am not there.’
The background music becomes ominous, as her stoic stare turns into a smile.
‘I’m here,’ she concludes, the camera panning to her Vogue cover before showing Margot finally letting her guard down, dancing around her living room which is now comfortably messy.
