From Hawaii, Dwayne Johnson, “The Rock”, announced that a live-action version of Disney Animation’s 2016 hit film, “Moana”, is in development. ” Deeply honored to announce that we are bringing Moana’s beautiful story to the big screen! ” the actor wrote on his Instagram.
The Rock further stated that the film’s story represents its culture. “It is an emblematic story, full of grace and emanating from the warrior strength of our people,” he wrote.

The animation story “Moana” takes place in an ancient world in the South Pacific. Teenager Moana (Auli’i Cravalho) joins forces with her hero, the demigod Maui (The Rock) and they encounter sea creatures in an ancient culture. The animation was released in theaters in January 2017 – and directed by the duo Ron Clements and John Musker, also responsible for The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and The Princess and the Frog.
