England star Phil Foden is helping McDonald’s redistribute more than 1 million meals to families in need.
The fast food restaurant chain has teamed up with FareShare, the UK’s biggest charity fighting hunger and food waste, for its latest campaign aimed at helping the communities hit hardest by the cost of living crisis.
It’s hoped that the scheme ensures more families are able to enjoy a meal and a match together during the World Cup this winter.
As well as funding the redistribution of more than one million meals, McDonald’s is also donating 100 Reward Points for every order made via the McDonald’s app on Wales and England football match days between November 19 and December 19.
This equates to the redistribution of two meals for every five orders made through the app.
The funding will help FareShare get surplus food from across the hospitality industry to 9,500 charities and community groups.
To raise awareness of this partnership, McDonald’s is working with some of the biggest names in sport and entertainment to create limited-edition McDelivery bags.
Man City and England ace Phil Foden, Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit, sports presenter Laura Woods and social media star Bash the Entertainer have already contributed to the campaign, with more big names to follow.

The bag designs celebrate great football memories and the campaign aims to help millions of people create special memories of their own this winter.
Customers can get their hands on a limited-edition bag by ordering via the McDonald’s app.
Foden said: “McDonald’s and FareShare are making sure more than one million meals get to people across the country who need them most.
“I’ve got some great memories of watching football as a kid, surrounded by family and friends. I really hope that this partnership means more families can enjoy a good meal this winter and create some amazing memories of their own. It’s such an important issue and I was happy to help out.”

Woods added: “Sport has an amazing way of transporting us back to specific moments from our past. Not just the action on the pitch, but where we were watching and who we shared that moment with.
“It’s surreal that one of the moments that inspired me to pursue a career in sport will be on a McDelivery bag! I hope it helps to raise funds for such a great cause.”
McDonald’s has been a partner of FareShare since 2020, helping them with their mission to redistribute surplus food to charities and community groups in areas that are in most need of support.
Lindsay Boswell, CEO at FareShare, said: “As demand for our food has skyrocketed, funding the redistribution of over one million meals this winter will make a huge difference. We’re thrilled to have this support from McDonald’s in getting food that may otherwise go to waste to people in need.”
Alistair Macrow, CEO for McDonald’s UK & Ireland, added: “The latest phase of the partnership means we can continue to help those who need it most this winter and ensure more families can enjoy a meal and the match together.”
