Jalen Hurts is reportedly set to sign a bumper contract extension with the Philadelphia Eagles. The quarterback is entering the final year of his rookie deal and is on course to make just over $4 million in 2023.
However, after Hurts led the Eagles to the Super Bowl last season, the team is set to offer him a lucrative new deal. According to reports, Philadelphia is reportedly proposing a six-year, $265 million extension for their signal caller.
The rumored deal would see Hurts earn a staggering $44 million per year. This would mean that Hurts’ average annual salary would be almost similar to the deal signed by Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes signed a 10-year, $450 million contract in the 2020 offseason. The two-time Super Bowl winner has an annual average salary of $45 million.
However, the Eagles’ reported contract offer for Hurts indicates that the team views him as their marquee man. His growth over the past year has been incredible, and Philadelphia is clear that they want to keep a hold of the 24-year-old.
