We have our first look at Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn – and you better get excited.
The Bad Romance hitmaker takes on the role of the iconic DC Comics character in the upcoming Joker sequel, titled Joker: Folie à Deux.
She’ll star alongside Joaquin Phoenix, as the 48-year-old reprises his role as the legendary Batman villain, with the 36-year-old Poker Face songstress playing his longtime henchwoman and love interest.
Gaga – real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta – was pictured on set in New York City on Saturday (March 25), and there’s no denying that she’s the perfect woman for the role.

‘Lady Gaga was born to be Harley Quinn’, declared another.
Earlier this month, Gaga herself shared a sneak preview of her performance in the Joker sequel.
The Chromatica singer posted a photo on Instagram, showing herself and co-star Phoenix.
Gaga has an intense look in her eyes, clasping Phoenix’s face – which is painted in the Joker’s signature makeup and framed by green-tinged hair.

Of course, the role of Harley was previously played by Margot Robbie, including in the spinoff Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn), leaving fans apprehensive about another actress taking on the character.
However, the Australian Barbie star has given her blessing, and she’s excited to see what Gaga does with the role.
She explained to MTV News last year: ‘It makes me so happy because I said from the very beginning that all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters the way… like Macbeth or Batman always gets passed from great actor to great actor.’

The Suicide Squad star added: ‘I feel like, in not so many cases, are there female characters — Queen Elizabeth I, but beyond that, which I got to have a crack out as well, which I was honoured to do. I was like, “Wow! Cate Blanchett did Queen Elizabeth I. Now I get to.
‘It’s such an honour to have built a foundation strong enough that Harley can now be one of those characters that other actors get to have a go at playing. And I think she’ll do something incredible with it.’
Joker: Folie à Deux is set for release next year, but details surrounding the plot remain a closely-guarded secret.
But we’re sure fans can expect powerhouse performances, given that Phoenix was given the Academy Award for best actor for his portrayal of the villain, who has previously been played by stars including Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson.
