Aussie actress Margot Robbie is set to star in an all-female edition of Disney’s biggest franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean, alongside Birds of Prey writer Christina Hodson
Margot Robbie has reportedly signed on the dotted line to take over from Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean.
The Australian bombshell is set to take the starring role in the new spin-off, which will feature an all-female cast.
Reports suggest that the 29-year-old actress will be teaming up with former colleague Christina Hodson, who she last worked with on Birds of Prey.
The franchise – which has taken in over £4.5billion across five individual films – has previously seen Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley take the starring roles before becoming one of the biggest film franchises in box office history.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming film will move away from the Jack Sparrow focused movies and move attention to a string of new characters and storylines.
It’s also believed that it is a separate project from the upcoming reboot of the Pirates franchise that has Ted Elliott, the original writer working with Chernobyl creator, Craig Mazin.
Jerry Bruckheimer is said to be producing both films.

Originally, Pirates of the Caribbean – The Curse of the Black Peak, was inspired by a Disney theme park rollercoaster that had opened in 1967.

The flume ride, which was based on pirate and folklore legends, was one of the last amusements which had Walt Disney at the helm before his death in 1966.
Johnny Depp’s role as Jack Sparrow has seen him bag an Oscar nomination in 2004 for the Best Actor in a Leading Role category.

However, he lost out to Seann Penn who snatched the award for his portrayal of James “Jimmy” Markum in the neo-noir drama, Mystic River.
Johnny Depp’s last outing as Sparrow came in Dead Men Tell No Tales which was released in 2017, taking in a staggering £795 million across the globe.
He starred alongside Javier Bardem and Kaya Scodelrio.
