Defender Dani Alves broke down after his wife Joana Sanz wrote to cut the relationship on March 15.
Radio Cuatro (Spain) revealed that the former Barcelona star went on a hunger strike and hid in a cell after learning that Joana publicly ended the relationship.
On March 17, Spanish media also reported that Alves felt broken and sad because of the breakdown of his marriage. The Brazilian defender is still in custody for allegedly sexually assaulting a young woman at a nightclub in Barcelona.
In a letter shared on her personal page on March 15, Joana admitted to “going through terrible days” when she learned that Alves had an affair and sexually assaulted others.
