Erling Haaland has broken a series of records with the recent 5 goals against RB Leipzig.
For Leipzig to draw 1-1 in the first leg, Man City poured a rain of goals into the opponent’s net at the Etihad to win tickets to the quarterfinals. Pep Guardiola’s army won 7-0 in the end, in which Erling Haaland contributed 5 goals.
The Norwegian player scored a hat-trick in the first half. And these goals have officially helped Haaland become the youngest player to reach 30 goals in the Champions League, surpassing Kylian Mbappe. Haaland reached this milestone at the age of 22 years and 236 days, beating the previous record of 22 years and 352 days set by Mbappe.
Both of these players reached the milestone of 30 goals much earlier than top superstars like Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. Haaland is also honored to become the fastest player to reach 30 goals in just 25 matches. This record was previously held by Ruud van Nistelrooy with 30 games.
Not stopping with only 2 records, Haaland scored 2 more goals in the second half. Haaland surpassed Tommy Johnson’s record from 1929 for the most goals scored for Man City in a season, setting a new record at 39 goals. He also rose to become the top scorer for Man City in the Champions League in a season with 10 goals.
Erling Haaland also became the third player in Champions League history to score five goals in a single game. Those who have done this before are Lionel Messi and Luiz Adriano.
This weekend, Man City will temporarily forget the race in the Premier League to focus on the FA Cup front. Their opponent will be Burnley of former Vincent Kompany.
