Liverpool are about to enter the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Real Madrid. However, coach Klopp’s teachers and students do not seem to have the best preparation for the trip to Spain.
The Spanish press reported that Liverpool did not practice at the Santiago Bernabeu to get used to the ground where the match took place. According to the plan, coach Klopp’s teachers and students have to until the afternoon of March 13 (local time) to start moving from Liverpool to Madrid, which is only about 24 hours before the match.
Liverpool FC arrives at Adolfo Suarez airport at 19:00. Coach Klopp and a player went to the Santiago Bernabeu to attend a press conference in front of the media at 8 pm. They only had a single training session at the Ciudad Deportiva training ground just a few hours before the match.
Besides, Liverpool will not return home immediately after the end of the match. They will sleep in the Spanish capital and have to wait until the afternoon of March 15 to take a flight back to the UK. In the event of a comeback against Real Madrid and reaching the quarterfinals, they will have the opportunity to celebrate all night.
In the first leg, Liverpool lost to Real Madrid with a score of 2-5 at Anfield. The Kop then suddenly smashed MU with a score of 7-0, making many of their fans believe in a comeback in Spain.
However, Liverpool unexpectedly lost 0-1 to Bournemouth in the English Premier League last weekend – a very bad run for the second leg of the Champions League round of 16. They will have to win by at least 4 goals against the defending champions if they want to reach the quarterfinals.
