Coach Ten Hag still has reason to be unhappy about Antony, although the winger scored a memorable goal in the second half to give Man United a 4-1 victory over Real Betis.
This morning, MU partly repelled the 0-7 loss to Liverpool with a show of strength against Betis . It was Antony who was the typical character of the match, when he scored an extremely important goal at a time when MU was being held 1-1 and faced fierce resistance from the opponent.
Since Antony’s beautiful kick, MU has created an easier game and scored 2 more goals, thereby firmly holding the ticket to go on. However, coach Ten Hag did not think it was an impressive performance. He was not satisfied with what the student showed in the first half.
“I don’t think he can only do it (scoring) in the Europa League because he has scored in his first three Premier League games ,” insisted Ten Hag. “But in the first half, he could have done better. He can make more effective shots, be braver, and drop deeper.
He should be close to the opponent, move more, use his speed to make a more pronounced difference. His performance in the second half was much better, he scored a great goal, an important goal.”
Instead of Ten Hag’s feeling of “halving joy and sorrow” with Antony, he was completely satisfied with Bruno Fernandes . He said that the Portuguese midfielder gave a perfect performance: “I think he is the best player on the pitch. He showed personality.
He played a slightly more pronounced role and I think he did it brilliantly. I think he’s the leader and controls the game from the midfield with a lot of good passes. And thanks to that, we created a lot of opportunities.”
