Being a mother is one of the most beautiful things in the world, however, there are those who have not been given this for certain reasons. Or maybe she didn’t become a mother exactly as it is “written” in the big book! If someone is even a little different from the average, society tends to judge her.
Kris Monsour from Ohio always wanted to be a mother, but after trying to get pregnant for more than 10 years, she gave up on her biggest dream.
Kris divorced her first husband, and when she got married for the second time, she suddenly became pregnant, but the good news did not last long, as she lost the baby in the first few weeks.
“My doctor then said that it was better to give up, stop trying and accept that I would never be a mother. I felt really bad when he said that, but I have to learn to live with the fact and I started to focus on my work,” Kris said.
Kris Monsour’s decade-long motherhood journey was filled with endless trials and tribulations. She was on the verge of drowning in a cycle of trauma, anxiety and despair when one day something surprisingly unexpected happened.
One day, Kris received an unexpected phone call that changed her entire life. One of her cousins, who had recently returned home from the rehabilitation center, called her to ask if she would like to adopt her unborn baby.
Kris, who was 48 years old at the time, of course said yes right away, and she and her husband accompanied them through every moment of the pregnancy, right up to the birth.
Kris and Clay adopted little Ainsley in March, and they were happier than ever in their lives. The adoption process itself was both mentally and physically taxing, and what’s more, it cost nearly 20,000 dollars, but every single sacrifice made for the child was worth it.
The now 52-year-old mother shared her greatest happiness on TikTok, but unfortunately she was attacked a lot because of how she dared to welcome a small child into her life at this age.
The woman faced horrific abuse online, with many calling her “selfish” for becoming a mother at an older age and telling her she would likely die before her daughter grew up. Others berated her for adopting a child so late.
“You are selfish! You won’t even deserve to graduate,” wrote one commenter.
Another commenter wrote: “She’s just trying to fill a void because she couldn’t have a child of her own.” But despite all this, the only thing that kept Kris Monsour alive was his undying love for his daughter.
In addition to the ugly comments, the mother also received positive feedback, appreciation and love from netizens.
“You gave a child a chance at the life he deserves. Where there’s a will, there’s a way!” one commenter wrote.
Another added: “Proud of you being a great mom. And the love in your daughter’s eyes is priceless.”
Monsour’s story sheds light on an extremely important issue – the stigmatization of older women who take on motherhood. However, according to the latest research published in “The European Journal of Developmental Psychology”, children of older mothers have fewer behavioral, social and emotional difficulties.
According to the research, older women tend to punish their children less verbally or physically. They also say they are more patient and offer the same to their children. The case of Kris Monsour may seem strange to some, but it is nonetheless beautiful.
