Emma Gearns was 25 years old when doctors told her that it was very unlikely for her to conceive naturally.
Emma says: “I had a smear test, and then they said that my cervix is somehow connected to the uterus and that I would hardly be able to conceive in the usual way.”
Emma took it easy at the time. Instead of having children, she decided to focus on her career. Calmness was also facilitated by the fact that the person with whom she would like to become pregnant was not observed nearby, so there was no reason to worry about her own hypothetical infertility.
But then, closer to thirty, Emma met her husband, Jamie. The couple decided that they still wanted children, and before going to the IVF clinic, they decided to try to achieve the goal using their grandfather’s, so to speak, methods.
Emma and Jamie tried for about a year and then decided to abandon this business for a while and just relax: travel, have fun, go to bars. Literally immediately after making this decision, the woman discovered that she was pregnant.
“Cheers cheers!” The couple was delighted, and in due time Emma gave birth to a healthy girl who was named Harlow. Young parents plunged into new troubles for themselves, and as for whether they should have more children, they decided: to start, but someday later. In addition, judging by previous experience, they considered that it would take years of trying to conceive again.
However, literally the very first sex that happened after the birth of a daughter led to a new pregnancy (here we must recall that lactation is not a method of contraception). A little bewildered (but delighted), the couple began to wait for replenishment.
In the early stages, Emma had slight bleeding. The woman thought it was a miscarriage, and she went to the hospital only to confirm it and find out if she was all right.
However, doctors discovered that not only did the pregnancy not terminate, it was multiple!
Emma says, “Because of the coronavirus restrictions, Jamie couldn’t go to the hospital with me, so he waited in the car. I was stunned and shocked – still, I thought I had lost a child, and they told me that I would have twins. So I returned to the car in tears.
Jamie tried to calm me down, said we could try again, and all that. When I said I was expecting twins, he thought it was a joke.”
Twins Noah and Arthur were born two days after their older sister turned one. Now Emma and Jamie are definitely not planning any more children; having three within a year is another test. Now Harlow is almost two years old, and the twins are nine months old, so the parents have to keep an eye on them all.
Emma claims that she became the person that her friends tell their acquaintances about: she was not supposed to have children at all, and then she had three in a year!
Pregnancy is not only unplanned but also invisible; for example, a woman gave birth to a boy although she thought she had kidney stones. Imagine how stunned she was!
