This Retro-Modern Trans Am 70/SS Chevelle Super Sport Is Worth Every Penny

Trans Am Worldwide has revived the legendary 1970 Chevelle Super Sport. And it is the perfect fusion of classic muscle car styling and modern power.

Trans Am Worldwide has finally fulfilled the dreams of many by bringing the classic 1970 Chevelle Super Sport muscle car back to life on a modern platform. Many collectors adore the classic Chevelle Super Sport, and today it’s one of the most well-known muscle cars, yet it looks like the cool Retro-modern Chevelle will also win many hearts.

This Chevelle restomod showers us with various cool features. These include several massively powerful engine variants, a fantastic semi-vintage interior, heritage and modern exterior colors. All of this while keeping the look of the classic Chevrolet model we all know and love. However, if you want to get your hands on one, you’ll have to be quick: the most prestigious variant will be limited to a handful of units.

The Design Of The 70/SS Is A Mix Of Vintage And ModernTrans Am 70/SS Chevelle Super Sport front third quarter viewTrans Am Worldwide

At first glance, this restomod looks very much like the original Chevrolet Chevelle Super Sport. The exterior features eight heritage colors, such as Forest Green, Hugger Orange, and Cranberry Red. You’ll also be able to customize the color of the two sporty stripes running along the length.

Granted, these look astonishing, but Trans Am Worldwide added another set of ten modern colors. You can even ask Trans Am’s paint department to mix a custom color for you, so your Chevelle can look bespoke. You can also choose between a painted or a chrome bumper.

Customizing the exterior and interior details further is where the fun starts. Some of the exterior options covered are a removable hard top, exposed carbon fiber, and painted graphics.

You can choose between several wheel options. These include 20-inch traditional Rally SS wheels or 5-spoke ones with custom-painted brake calipers and an optional color accent. The suspension offers two packages: a lowering spring and an upgraded sway bar package.

The interior is surprisingly sleek, modern, and even luxurious, but it retains a 70s vibe with many carefully crafted retro parts. The retro packages for the instrument cluster, leather seats, and the retro loop carpet remind us of the beautiful 70s muscle car. Still, the interior looks like that of a modern car. It includes a multimedia display and a multifunction steering wheel.

This modern Chevelle interior also has many cool details, such as the 70/SS embroidery on the headrest, 70/SS aluminum sill plates, and custom door panel inserts. The gear shifter is a heritage one for the automatic variant and a Hurst Short Ratio for the manual one.

The New Chevelle Engine Packs Up To 1,500 HP70/SS Chevelle engineTrans Am Worldwide

The looks are merely the beginning, as they should be with any muscle car. This Chevelle has a beast of an engine, even in the most basic option. The most powerful one is sure to scare away any Prius lover!

For an entry-level 70/SS engine, you can try the 450 hp, 6.2-liter LT-1 V8; this still beats the performance of some classic 1970 Chevelle variants. Of course, this is not a fair comparison considering how much more powerful car engines have gotten over the years, but if you’re looking for a more powerful Chevelle, you’ll likely want to choose the new one.

For an upgraded level of power, one can opt for the 6.5-lite, 900-hp engine, and for even crazier amounts of power, there is the LS6/X twin turbo 454 with an incredible 1,500 hp.

However, the latter will be produced as a limited edition; only 25 units will be made. In case you’re still not convinced how cool the new Chevelle’s engine choice is, you can hear what it sounds like.

Price Of The New 70/SS Chevelle May Put You OffChevrolet Chevelle SS on trackTrans Am Worldwide

The Chevelle recreation starts around the $150,000 mark. However, the customizable options, although cool, will add up to the price. This car reimagines a classic and improves upon it, so a high price is understandable. It is worth noting that a classic Chevelle can sell for much higher, but $150,000 is generally higher than the average price for almost all classic variants in good condition.

A used 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle, in a good condition, currently sells for an average of $86,953. The muscle coupe is cheaper on average, with prices ranging from as low as $20,000 to as much as $500,000 for pristine condition models. In case you’re planning to buy a classic car like the Chevelle, it is wise to follow price trends, as the cost of classic cars keeps fluctuating over time.

Despite the higher price, you might want to choose the new Trans Am 70/SS for the fact that it’s built on a modern platform, many modifications will be done in the factory, and you’ll get more power contained within a modern shell of the classic Chevelle Super Sport.
