What did Jonathan Majors Say about the Hollywood Industry?
Jonathan Majors is an extremely humble and down-to-earth actor, and for him acting was not merely about earning money and being in the limelight. For him, acting served as a medium of peace which brought him a purpose in his life.

In an exclusive interview with Vanity Fair, Majors discussed Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. He said that during his time in acting school, there were debates if acting in Marvel films were real. He was delighted when he was chosen by Marvel and had a sense of relief when the superhero franchise didn’t tell him to change his acting method for the character. He added that looking at the Ant-Man 3 poster was funny, and was excited about what was to come.
“It’s funny. Again, there were these debates in drama school. They would always be like, “Is that acting? Is that real acting?” I watched all the [Marvel] films and I never thought I would be picked to do it. You know what I mean? They’ve not asked me to change my approach to acting, which was my biggest fear. I mean, [seeing the poster] was probably one of the few moments where I’m like, Holy f*ck. This can’t be real. I’m pretty cool. I’m pretty slow to excitement, but I was like, Oh, it’s on.”
The actor was then asked how he copes with his rising fame in the industry, and how he differentiates his personal and professional life. The actor replied that he’s a private individual and he prefers talking about his work and how he can make his role better. He clarified how uninterested he is in gossip, as he’ll be in his bed by 12:00 AM.
“I think people treat you the way you let them treat you. I am a private individual. I just keep my head down. It’s about the work, how you do your work. I don’t bother nobody. I have no interest in the fuckery of the industry. I’m in bed by twelve o’clock.”
He added that he doesn’t feel pressurized for making an online presence, even though he will be behind others to be informed about a piece of breaking news related to his colleagues.
“I did get pressure from my team, my publicist, light pressure, early on. I said, “Believe it or not, and you may not see it now, it’s going to take away from my business.” And I’m not shitting on it. I do understand what it means. I know that there’s some things I don’t know because I’m like six days behind on anything that happens with Kanye. I mean, listen, I can mess shit up in the real world. Don’t give me another avenue.”
Jonathan Majors also said that when he was in school, he thought that the word ‘Movie star’ is a dirty word because it was too ambitious to say. He said actors have to appeal to the upper class of society, sometimes an actor can be a threat to politicians, and altogether it’s quite a burden.
“Look, there’s a time I thought it was a dirty word, you know what I mean? Movie star. In school, you would never dream of saying something so ambitious. Michael [B. Jordan] is such a good example of a movie star because movie stars have to appeal to the bourgeois and the proletariat. Movie stars can show a film in Montana. Movie stars are dangerous to politicians. It’s a different type of burden.”
The interviewer asked Majors’ current opinion of the word, to which the actor answered he is afraid of it because it comes with a lot of hope, and that can be scary.
“No. I think it’s a word that I was afraid of, because it actually comes with a lot of hope. And that’s scary.”

The actor continued that he was talking to his agent in the parking lot, about how he met legendary actors when he was in his 20s. He grew up watching those guys when he was a kid, and he aspires to be as great as them.
“The other day, I was talking outside in the parking lot with my agent, waiting for the gym to open, and I was saying to him, “It’s the long throw.” A lot of guys in the theater—Keith Randolph Smith, Ruben Santiago-Hudson, Michael Potts—I was meeting these guys when I was in my 20s and these gentlemen are 60 years old. Those are the actors that I grew up watching. I’m aspiring to be that. I think a lot of folks are going short when they should be going long. But I’m very happy with how everything is going.”
The Devotion actor concluded by saying, “Yeah, that’s exactly what it is, where I go, I’m not quite satisfied. And it’s got to be that way. “
Jonathan Majors’ story is an inspiration to all. As a young boy who was afraid to be a movie star because it was “too ambitious” to say, the actor proved that if a person works hard enough then faith will be kind enough to alter their life.

A Glimpse at Jonathan Majors’ Role in the MCU
Jonathan Majors will play the role of Kang the Conqueror, who is a terrifying combination of intellect, madness, and ego. We first saw a ‘friendlier’ version of Kang called He Who Remains, in Loki season 1. The character revealed that there are some variants of his in the multiverse who are evil and filled with rage, and they want to conquer and rule the Multiverse.

He Who Remains used the power of Alioth to end the war with his other variants, then established the Time Variance Authority to maintain the timeline, but Sylvie was blinded and killed him. Sylvie and Loki look outside to see the timeline breaking, which set the story for Kang the Conqueror in motion.
Through the trailer of Ant-Man 3, it was clear that Kang the Conqueror is different from He Who Remains. And through the same trailer, it can be interpreted that this other variant is extremely violent and shows no remorse. Since both roles were played by Majors, it can be said that he has nailed his role and fans are loving this villain.
Fans can see Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which will be released on 17th February 2023.
