This 2023 Chevrolet Corvette SUV Is The Perfect Rival To The Ford Mustang Mach-E

This render takes a look at how the C8 Corvette could work for when Chevrolet decides to broaden its range with a performance SUV.

It isn’t a stretch to imagine a Chevrolet Corvette SUV like the one you see before you – it might have been a decade or two ago, but things have changed.

Now, what we would once have thought of as sacrilege is a reality for Lamborghini, Ferrari, Maserati and more, but using the Ford Mustang nameplate for a crossover was a bold move indeed.

Fast-forward and the Mach-E is now a successful model and can coexist peacefully next to its pony car sibling – so is it a stretch to imagine Chevrolet doing the same with the Corvette?

HotCars digital artist Timothy Adry Emmanuel provides us with the shiny new blueprints for a possible Corvette SUV, and it looks like the Mach-E should be a little concerned.

It would make business sense, taking into account the public’s love of SUVs, and cars like the Porsche 911 Dakar and Lamborghini Sterrato are already creating new niches for existing supercars.

GM could do a lot worse than follow the lead set by this render, which takes the best bits of the C8 Chevrolet Corvette’s design and applies them to a crossover with believable style.

The headlamps and rear lights return from the C8, and the red color covers the compact SUV body with other styling features from the ‘Vette, including the black grilles set below the rear lights and in the front bumper on the sports car.

With the lights and the grilles in place, the addition of badging, 5-spoke wheels that look similar to the Stingray’s rims (albeit clad in off-road rubber) and with a pointed nose, the inspiration is clear.

Sources inside GM have already said that the Corvette line will expand by 2025 and will potentially even become its own brand, much like the Mustang Mach-E is more like a brand than a follow-up to the Mustang. As it’s still a while off it’s too early to know how much the Corvette SUV will cost, but Chevrolet would probably price the car below the standard Corvette to keep it at the top of the range.

This SUV crossover looks no worse than other examples from the Lamborghini Urus to the Mach-E, and we’d go so far as to say rather than inoffensive; it looks credible.

The C8 ‘Vettes design language is present in this render and combined with a sleek crossover silhouette, plastic cladding on the wheel arches, extra protection under the front bumper, and big wheels, shows that a Corvette SUV needn’t look unappetizing.

Because Timothy chose to adopt the quad exhaust setup from the current Corvette for this project, we can assume that the Stingray’s 6.2-liter V8 would get swapped in again, but perhaps in hybridized form borrowing the electronics from the recently-unveiled Corvette E-Ray.
