Appearing in just his fourth game as a member of the Dallas Mavericks Monday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves , star guard Kyrie Irving did his thing.
Irving had struggled to an extent through three quarters, scoring just 10 points. With Dallas down 12 heading into the fourth quarter, that’s when the NBA champion went absolutely nuts.
The eight-time All-Star dropped a whopping 26 points in the final 12 minutes of action, doing everything to bring his new Mavericks team from behind.

What’s crazy here is the fact that Kyrie Irving finished the first half with just four points on 2-of-8 shooting. Including his 26-point fourth quarter, the enigmatic guard shot 13-of-15 from the field in the second half. He also hit on 4-of-6 from distance during this span.
Unfortunately, Irving’s performance was not enough for Dallas to pull off the home win against Minnesota.
It came within the confines of a game in which new teammate Luka Doncic also dropped 33 points on 10-of-20 shooting.
Add in Christian Wood’s 24 points off the bench, and that’s pretty much the only production Dallas got in a 124-121 home loss to the Timberwolves.
As for Kyrie Irving, he’s been absolutely cooking since the Dallas Mavericks acquired the NBA champion in a trade with Brooklyn last week. Including Monday night’s action, Irving is averaging 28.3 points in four outings with Dallas.
