“I’m gonna start crying! I have not started crying yet,” she said in a sweet video.
Angelina Jolie is officially a Spelman mom.
After weeks of celebrating her 17-year-old daughter’s enrollment at the historically Black liberal arts college, it was finally time to drop Zahara Jolie-Pitt off in Atlanta. On move-in day, the school’s vice president for student affairs snapped a photo and video of the proud mom wearing a flowy, all-black ensemble and face mask as she shared a moment with Spelman president Dr. Helene Gayle.
“I’m gonna start crying! I have not started crying yet,” Jolie said when asked how it felt to be a Spelman mom. After being told by Dr. Gayle that there will be “plenty of time to cry” as the welcoming festivities continue, Jolie responded, “I heard tomorrow night’s the big night. I’m holding it together still. I’m holding it together.”
In the third slide, Darryl Holloman shared a photo of Jolie and Zahara in what appears to be the young woman’s new dorm room. Zahara wore a simple green T-shirt and jeans for move-in day.
The Oscar winner first announced Zahara would be attending the women’s college in an Instagram post of her own on July 31. “Zahara with her Spelman sisters! Congratulations to all new students starting this year,” Jolie captioned a photo of her daughter with a group of young women from the class of 2026 decked out in Spelman gear. “A very special place and an honor to have a family member as a new Spelman girl.”
Jolie was also captured taking part in the electric slide at what appears to be the same Spelman welcome event in Los Angeles. “I love this so much ❤️ CONGRATULATIONS 😍,” Kerry Washington commented on Jolie’s Instagram post.
Along with Zahara, Angelina Jolie shares five more children with ex-husband Brad Pitt: 20-year-old Maddox, 18-year-old Pax, 16-year-old Shiloh, and 14-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox. Maddox currently attends Yonsei University in South Korea.
