The Manchester United stars do not want Mason Greenwood to re-integrate with the team even though the player has been denied sexual assault allegations.
According to the Daily Mail , MU players think they may be distracted if Greenwood returns to the first team, even breaking the plan being built in the 2022/23 season.
“Man United’s dressing room is stable and no one wants even the slightest disturbance. Greenwood’s appearance can be distracting for teammates,” the British newspaper said.
Until now, Greenwood is still on the list of U21 players of Man United. The last time the English player played for “Red Devils” was in January 2022. The 22-year-old player’s contract with the Old Trafford club is valid until the summer of 2025.
MU is said to have conducted an internal investigative process, overseen by Chief Executive Officer, Richard Arnold. The “Red Devils” management could not launch its investigation until the lawsuit against Greenwood was dropped. The red half of Manchester must weigh all damages in terms of benefits if the 21-year-old continues to wear the club shirt.
The Guardian said many of MU’s global sponsors and partners declined to comment on Greenwood’s case. They insist they are waiting for a final decision from the team’s leadership before giving any next direction.
MU is in good form with only one defeat since November 2022. Coach Erik Ten Hag’s teachers and students are in 3rd place in the Premier League table and have the opportunity to go deep in the Europa League.
