Lots of Real Madrid fans were left unhappy with the club’s inactivity during the January transfer window. A club like Chelsea ended up adding Mykhailo Mudryk, Enzo Fernandez, Benoit Badiashile, Noni Madueke, Joao Felix, on loan from Atletico Madrid, and several others. On the other hand, Los Blancos remained absolutely still despite the fact that the team has seemed to struggle in recent times.
Coming into the season, the worry was always the lack of depth in certain positions. And those fears have come true. At the start of the campaign, Carlo Ancelotti’s side had looked absolutely unstoppable. But injuries, fatigue and a general lack of options, seem to have taken a toll on them.
Their recent results and performances have been lacklustre, even though there have been a couple of highlight come from behind wins against Villarreal and Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey. Thus, Real Madrid could have done with a few additions in the middle of the season.
While Real Madrid did not make any additions in the January transfer window, it looks like they were not completely still either and have a deal in place to bring Fran Garcia back to the club in the summer.
Real Madrid have agreed deal to sign Spanish defender
As reported by MARCA, Raul Martin Presa, president of Rayo Vallecano, said on ‘El Partidazo de COPE‘:
“Fran Garcia will go to Real Madrid at the end of this season.
“We have reached an agreement.”
He further went on to add:
“Real Madrid has prevented Fran Garcia from going to Bayer Leverkusen, obviously because of their interest, as they consider him to be a player that has something to offer them.”
Garcia came through the youth ranks at Real Madrid but was not able to make his mark at the senior level, before leaving for Rayo Vallecano.
There, the Spaniard has been much more successful and currently is considered as one of the best rising left-backs in La Liga. That is a position where Real Madrid could do with some reinforcements in as well. Thus, a move to bring back Garcia to Santiago Bernabeu makes a lot of sense.
